Strobing Tutorial on The It Girl

Hello people.

Recently, I created a post about strobing tutorial on The It Girl. And I would like to share some stories behind the scene on this post.

First, it was my first photoshoot that involved model, and super tiny studio. I made my little bedroom into a studio with help of white fabric material I got from my office that should be tailored for my work uniform. But I already had many white shirts, so, I guess it would be helpful if it's for another function.

Second, I'm not a makeup artist though. But I worked a little bit as a makeup artist here since I love drawing. And it's not that difficult to strobe.

After all, I still need learn a lot about photography. What do you think of my photos I took? I would love to hear some comments whether it's a compliment or advice.

And you can see full post about strobing tutorial here.

Photoshoot for Guzel

So I finally did it. My very first experience as a photographer, dreams come true! I did it for my friend's upcoming online store, Guzel,  that will sell hijabs and stuff (she's the model). A long ago, I was the model for my friends and now I become the photographer! I'm so excited to do this.

The theme was back to nature. With the green from leaves, blue from the sky, and some florals. I almost could not find the right location for this photo session. Eventually, we ended up at Kenjeran Park near my college. And I did for the make up too. Looking so amateur, right? But I'm happy with the photos I've taken. and of course, I need some exercises about photograph. Great photographer doesn't need great camera, but great eyes to capture great things.

Love-i-tation

When I say JUMP, you say HOW HIGH! These are some of my levitation pictures with my boyfriend. It's quite funny to remember the shooting process of these photos. I was inspired by a japanese girl's website called yowayowa. Look how consistent my jump is. These photos taken by iPhone 5 and Canon digital camera but I forgot what series it was and edited with Instagram.

Tutorial: Double exposure

double exposure tutorial

Many friends of mine asked me how to create a photo effect like that. And now I will give this double exposure tutorial on Photoshop. It’s easy and quick. Just be selective to which photos you want to edit.

Okay, so, I choose these 3 photos of mine from last year photoshoot. It’s kinda weird to edit your own photos actually, but I couldn’t find the right photos so I choose to use mine.

And for another effect, I add another tiny beautiful flower picture I found on Pinterest.

Let’s open your Photoshop.

Step 1

I open my first example photo above on Photoshop and do nothing with it. And then I add my second photo above my first photo. Set the blending option of the second photo to Lighten. So it will look like this.

3

Step 2

Because I want to add a monochrome effect on my photo. So I add another layer adjustment with Black and White gradient, and Exposure, so it will look like this.

Step 3

The last step is to add the flower photo to give some dramatic effect. Simply add the flower photo above all of layers. And set the blending mode to Lighten. The result will be like this.

double exposure 1

See? It’s very easy  for us to create double exposure photos with Photoshop. And don’t be afraid to experiment with your photos because the blending mode I choose is Lighten and probably doesn’t match with your photos. My favorite blend mode for double exposure is Lighten, Soft Light, Overlay, and Pin Light.

I hope this tutorial will be useful for you. Thank you!

Instagram photoshop actions

Don’t you worry if you don’t have instagram, because I found a simple solution for that! All you have to do is install Photoshop and these Instagram inspired actions to your Photoshop.

And I will give some examples of photos that have been ‘Instagramed’ with this Photoshop actions. There are many Instagram inspired actions, like Brannan, Walden, Earlybird, X Pro II, Lomo-fi, Inkwell, Toaster, Sutro, Lord Kelvin, Nashville, Gotham, and Hefe. These are effects from previous Instagram version. And I wish I could find or maybe give actions from newer Instagram such as Amaro, Mayfair, Rise, Hudson, Valencia, Sierra, and Willow.

This is the original photo. I love these peonies flower so much so I choose this photo from Pinterest as the example.
